The VK RespiRaptor® FFP2 nanofiber half mask in fish-type design half mask offers protection according to EN149 against microorganisms such as bacteria and viruses as well as all particles such as fine dust or floating allergens such as mold spores, pollen or house dust mite allergens. The half mask also destroys viruses and bacteria with two layers of copper oxide ions. Due to this additional pathogen deactivating effect, the product no longer represents biohazardous waste after use. The product is approved by the EPA for the US American market. EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) is a US environmental protection agency that has responsibilities to protect the

health and the environment takes over.

How the RespiRaptor VK respirator works

A nanofiber membrane – the Respilon® RFT membrane – is used in the half mask to filter the suspended particles. This nanofiber layer - shown as the middle layer in the figure below - is not laminated and therefore offers very high breathability. The VK RespiRaptor® half mask thus offers all the advantages of an FFP2 mask with a virus-destroying effect.

A nanofiber membrane, the Respilon® RFT membrane, is used in the half mask to filter the suspended particles. This nanofiber layer - shown as the middle layer in the adjacent illustration - is not laminated and therefore offers very high breathability. The outer fabric layers with accelerated copper oxide ions (ACuO) serve to deactivate the viruses and bacteria trapped in the nanofiber filter with an effectiveness of 99.9% on the inside and outside.

​The copper oxide ions give the VK RespiRaptor® mask a natural and skin-like color so that it looks more civil and no longer medical. With a total weight of only 4.4 g, the mask is also very light compared to conventional half masks and combines the best possible wearing comfort with maximum breathability.

Due to the fish-type cut, the half mask is also particularly suitable for people who wear glasses and ensures better understanding of speech.

The VK RespiRaptor® FFP2 protective mask is particularly suitable for doctors, fire brigades, police, laboratory staff, the pharmaceutical industry and similar professional groups, but also for politicians, civil servants or in professional sports and for people with a weak immune system.

The special design and material of the mask, together with the highly efficient nanofiber layer, whose filtering properties of 99.9% in terms of viruses and bacteria were tested and confirmed by Nelson Laboratories (Salt Lake City, USA) in July 2020, make it unique. The pathogen deactivating effect of the mask on viruses and bacteria was tested and evaluated in the Laboratory of Biological Monitoring and Protection in Brno, after which no more viruses and bacteria could be detected after 3 hours at the latest. This means that after three hours of non-use, the mask is sterile again and ready for the next use.

The VK RespiRaptor® FFP2 protective mask can also be used several times to protect against allergens (pollen, mites, etc.), dust or smog, usually until discoloration is visible. If the mask is to be used as protection against viruses or bacteria, for example during an influenza epidemic, it should be put back in the packaging after use so that it is sterile again for the next use.

The mask can be worn repeatedly for up to 168 hours (max. 1 week) without any maintenance. This is primarily dependent on the respirator being fully seated on the face with no signs of wear.

The VK RespiRaptor® FFP2 protective mask is available in one size M/L, individually packed in a pack of 2. The size S (particularly suitable for children) is also available in a pack of 2. The mask can be adjusted to the individual head circumference using a plastic clamp included in the scope of delivery.

Unopened, the VK RespiRaptor® FFP2 protective mask can be stored for up to 5 years.
